The 2014 Annual Play Therapy Conference – June 23-27, 2014

The Multicultural Play Therapy Center at UNC Charlotte is pleased to announce its 8th annual conference from June 23-27, 2014 at UNC Charlotte.

This event targets mental health therapists, K-12 counselors, and professional school counselors for development in play therapy skills. This year’s presentations include:

  • June 23: Animal Assisted Play Therapy: The Power of Relationship, Play, and the Human-Animal Bond by Dr. Van Fleet
  • June 24: Filial Therapy: Effective, Play-Based Help for Familieis with Complex Needs by Dr. Van Fleet
  • June 25: Play Therapy with Children of Fury: Theory and Interventions by Dr. David Crenshaw
  • June 26: Using Child-Centered Group Play Therapy to Impact Social and Behavioral Impairments by Dr. Theresa Kascak
  • June 26: Using Expressive Arts in Play Therapy Supervision by Drs. Peggy Ceballos and Phyllis Post

Continuing Education: You will receive 6 CEUs for each day of the 5-day conference (APT Approved Provider #07-191; NBCC Approved Provider #4208). The Multicultural Play Therapy Center at UNC Charlotte is pleased to announce its 7th annual conference from June 24-28, 2013 in the UNC Charlotte College of Health and Human Services Building, Room 155.

This event targets mental health therapists, K-12 counselors, and professional school counselors for development in play therapy skills. This year’s presentations include:

  • Play, Play Therapy, Interventions: A Neurobiologically Informed Perspective by Dr. Rick Gaskill on June 24 and 25
  • Conceptualization and Treatment Play Therapy by Dr. Terry Kottman on June 26 and 27
  • Attachment Security and Play Therapy by Dr. Bill Whelan on June 28

The 2012 Annual Play Therapy Conference – from June 25-28, 2012

The Multicultural Play Therapy Center at UNC Charlotte is pleased to announce its 5th annual conference from June 25-28, 2012in the UNC Charlotte College of Health and Human Services Building, Room 155.

This event targets mental health therapists, K-12 counselors, and professional school counselors for development in play therapy skills.

This year’s presentations include: Theraplay®: An Attachment-Based Play Therapy by Ms. Phyllis Booth; Ethical Decision-Making in Play Therapy: Models and Applications by Dr. Jeff Ashby; and Understanding the Role of Play in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy by Ms. Angie Nance.


The 2011 Annual Play Therapy Conference – From June 27 to June 30, 2011

The Multicultural Play Therapy Center at UNC Charlotte is pleased to announce its 5th annual conference from June 27-30, 2011 at UNC Charlotte.

Dr. Eliana Gil will present “Family Play Therapy: Engaging Creative Energy and Enhancing Relationships” on Monday, June 27 and Tuesday, June 28, 2011.

Dr. Vincent L. Pastore will present “Crossing the Divide: Using the Sandtray in Play Therapy” on Wednesday, June 29, 2011.

Drs. Phyllis Post and Peggy Ceballos will present “Advanced Skills in Child-Centered Play Therapy: Case Conceptualization, and Setting Limits” on Thursday, June 30, 2011.


The Multicultural Play Therapy Center Intensive Supervision in Play Therapy – From June 13 to June 15, 2011

The Multicultural Play Therapy Center at UNC Charlotte is pleased to announce its 5th annual conference from June 27-30 , 2011 at UNC Charlotte.

This event targets mental health therapists, K-12 counselors, and professional school counselors for development in play therapy skills. This year’s presentations include: Family Play Therapy: Engaging Creative Energy and Enhancing Relationships by Dr. Eliana Gil; Crossing the Divide: Using the Sandtray in Play Therapy by Dr. Vincent L. Pastore; and Advanced Skills in Child-Centered Play Therapy: Identifying Themes in Play Therapy, Case Conceptualization, and Setting Limits by Drs. Peggy Ceballos, Phyllis Post, and Saundra Penn.

The 2010 Annual Play Therapy Conference – From June 28 to July 1, 2010

The Multicultural Play Therapy Center at UNC Charlotte is pleased to announce its 4th annual conference from June 28-July 1, 2010 at UNC Charlotte.

Dr. Janine Shelby, University of California at Los Angeles, will present “Blending Play Therapy with Evidence-Based Treatments for Trauma” on Monday, June 28 and Tuesday, June 29, 2010.

Saundra Penn will present “Family Play Therapy” on Wednesday, June 30, 2010.

Drs. Lyndon Abrams, Phyllis Post, and Peggy Ceballos will present, “Experiential Understanding of Poverty: Implications for Play Therapy,” on Thursday, July 1.


The 2009 Annual Play Therapy Conference – From June 22 to June 26, 2009

The Multucultural Play Therapy Center Annual Conference at UNC Charlotte was held June 22-26, 2009. The conference provided educational and clinical experiences for elementary school counselors, mental health counselors, social workers, and psychologists who work with children between the ages of 2 and 10 years.

Participants earned continuing education credit for the Registered Play Therapist credential and from the National Board of Certified Counselors.
